It's Friday night!

Aaaaand...it's Friday
Trust me! I'm telling the truth! You made it through this week and now you are going to have the weekend you deserve!

I know, you're exhausted, right? With work, meetings, Christmas, family reunions and so ever.

Now wait a minute. Sit down. Are you sitting? Of course you are, you're on the computer. Now, take a deep breath...

A deep one. Inhale, exhale...deeeeeeply.

Now RAISE YOUR ARMS and yell: WOOOHHOOOO! (ok, maybe I went to far with that one. I don't have that much of a power over you, do I? No, really...do I? Did you yell? You're a strange fellow...I like you.)

Anyway, I can't think of a better feeling (lying... cough cough you pervert (!), what did you think I was insinuating (?) cough cough I'm thinking about eating pizza, of course cough cough) than the one we get at a Friday night when we know we can sleep all morning the next day. We don't have to, maybe we won't, but we CAN! Hell yeah! And today you can give yourself an extra night time. You've earned it.

You can watch a movie. You can play Sims 2 (I'm not the only one who still does it, am I?) until you're bored - 30 minutes or so -, or you can go out with your friends, your dog, your boyfriend, I don't really care....anyone who makes you happy. Enjoy your Friday night - what time is it there, by the way? -.

As a soon-to-be-official-unemployed-citizen (this sounds weird), I've been really confused about...anything "calender related", actually, so, Friday, Tuesday, Sunday...it's all the same for me. But, you know, I'm happy for you.

Keep in touch! And take the time to follow me on Twitter and like this blog of ours on Facebook! Thank you!

Stop whining

Christmas: check.
Next: New Year's Eve.

It's a party season, alright! Are you enjoying it?
I know it's not easy to have your family reunited for the holidays. It can be really annoying! And, yes, I do know it's not easy to have a small Christmas with only a couple of people, specially if you used to have your house full of relatives by this time of the year. Been there, done that.

But, you know what? We have to be grateful for the few people we have around us. For the pleasure of our own company, even. And we should enjoy every minute of this season. (And by "we", I mean "we, the ones who like/celebrate/live Christmas". Not everyone likes it and for many people Xmas doesn't mean anything. And that's cool. I don't care. And I bet that my idea of Xmas is completely different from yours. And, again, I don't care. The important thing is for us to be happy with our own choices.)

So, you miss those days when you used to have 15 people at the table on Christmas Eve. You got divorced and now there's only three or so. You know what I say to you? Be grateful!

And you? You are so bored with your aunt's stories and your grandfather's snoring is driving you crazy. That guy I mentioned above would kill to have what you have. Be grateful!

Stop whining and go eat some cake. Ok?

The same applies to New Year's Eve. Whether you're spending it at some crazy party or at home in your pajama, watching your favorite series, be grateful! You made it through another year! And your life is not defined by the way you spend one night, ok? Do what you like to do, without worrying to much about what everyone thinks or how they'll be spending their night. And do yourself a favor: stop stalking everyone's life on Facebook. That's not good for you.

Anyway, I hope you're having an amazing time! And if you can relate with some examples I gave here, don't worry, you're still perfectly in time of enjoying this season ok?

I'm gonna go to sleep now. And yeah, I'm really grateful for that warm bed of mine.

See you later, alligator!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Sunday laziness

Let me guess. You are having a pretty boring weekend, right? There's absolutely nothing worth watching on TV and you find yourself just vegetating (is that a word?) in front of your computer.

Well, you're lucky enough to be in that situation. It means you have nothing to do.

No? Oh, so you have that tiny thing to do since last month? There's that friend of yours to whom you don't speak in ages? You've been too busy to  even walk your dog?

Well...guess again. This is the perfect time to do all that stuff. You're not even enjoying your spare time. You are bored to death in that computer of yours. Reading this blog is acceptable, of course (!) but as soon as you're finished with it get up and get a life, ok? I mean, if you ARE bored and all.

It's actually really easy, you just need to get up and start doing things. Like, go and take a bath, call your friend and go grab a cup of coffee or whatever you like. A cappuccino is cool too. Call your dog (in this case, just yell or go to him...I mean, I believe he's a smart ass but I don't thing he'll answer the phone) and go do some exercise at the park near your house. You know? ENJOY your weekend! And tonight you won't be struggling with insomnia, I assure you that much!

It's raining outside? It's freezing cold? Well...what about getting friendly with your oven? Yeah! Bake a cake! It rhymes so it has to be a good idea (or not; it depends on how old you are and what experience you have cooking...please, be careful O.O)!

The thing is: if you are bored, don't be bored! If you are enjoying you're "vegetable" mode, well, embrace it!  It's good to just do nothing once in a while.

Anyway, I hope you liked this post. More coming soon ;) have an awesome weekend!

Take a minute

Hello! Good night, or good morning, good afternoon, maybe. The keyword here is "good"!

So, a little bird told me that you are having a crappy day. It happens to the best of us, right? But what if you contradict this day?

Yup. Take a minute, grab a piece of paper and write all the GOOD things that happened today.

Like, for instances, today, for the first time, I gave my cat a bath and, believe it or not, he loved it. It was really easy, I was shocked!

So, this is a good thing that happened to me today. Another one?  Today I had pasta with meatballs for dinner.

Can you do this? Think of one thing that made you smile today. A 9gag post, your mom's laughter, a hot chocolate or even the fact that it didn't rain today. Anything! Even the fact that your butt looked really nice in your favorite jeans today - what?? Why are you so shocked? There's not a single woman in this world that doesn't check her butt in the mirror before goin' out.

The important thing here is for you to see your day in a different perspective. And you know what? In a few hours you will be sleeping, all cozy and warm in your bed. That's also a good thing!

As for me, in a while I will be drinking a hot cup of tea and it's gonna be awesome. It's freezing out here!

Power up!

Good night everyone!

Today I saw a video that really inspire me. And I'm really glad that I got to see it before getting a job interview. It made so much sense to me and I promise that you'll want to spend 20 minutes of your time watching this video.

Are you familiar with TED? You can see really interesting people talking about all kinds of matters in this website. And sometimes you can found life changing approaches! This might be a good example.

Meet Amy Cuddy (click to watch the video)! Unlike me, she knows what she's talking about! She's a Social Psychologist and has a really important message to us all.

I admit I even got a little emotional watching this (don't tell anyone).

Enjoy!

Oh, and don't forget to check out our Facebook and Twitter accounts! Yes, "our", 'cause this is our page, mine and yours too.

Get up

Good afternoon!

This blog is about being happy. It's about overcoming our problems. And you might think "Yeah, like she is going through any problems in her life...bullshit". Well, first, watch the language and second, you're right in one thing: I don't consider it a problem, I see it as a challenge

For the first time in my life, I'm unemployed. And you know what? I'm not gonna flower it up. It's not easy. When we are fired our confidence is shredded into small pieces. I didn't do anything wrong, I was just a victim of the "conjuncture", according to my boss. The crisis, the lack of money, the fact that my job is no longer needed 'cause the "department" (let's put it this way) where I worked was shut down.

But, even in this particular situation, we always end up thinking that we could have done more, that we could have done something to just stand out in the crowd, you know? So that we wouldn't represent the group of people who ended up getting fired - yes, a lot of people got fired, this is the reality that we are living nowadays. Well, maybe we could. Maybe if we did this or that...but you know what? We'll never know. And the one thing we do know is that we have to get up.

That's right. Get up! This post is for you who are in the same situation I am today. You got fired. You are sad. You feel like the world as something against you. But, guess what? The world has absolutely nothing against you. If you look around, there are thousands of people in the same place as you. And it's just normal, you know? If you think about it, this is how we build a career, a resume, with different experiences, different positions in different companies.

I read this thing in a magazine last week and it made so much sense to me. It said something like this: now that you are unemployed, your job is to look for a job!

This is the attitude that you should have. You WILL get a job eventually. Maybe you'll even like your new job. Maybe, just maybe, you'll love it even more than you loved the last one. If your last job was your first, just think about it: your first job will probably be the worst you will ever have. Someone told me this the other day and I thought "hum...but...well...yeah...you might be right".

So...did you get the point? Get up! No one will find you a job for you. You are the one who has to do it. It's in your hands.

First step? Update your curriculum vitae, your resume, whatever you wanna call it. Do a search in the web, if you don't know how to do it. You have some amazing tools and some advises on this subject. Go for it. Register yourself in linkedin, do some research on your professional area and show the world how amazing you really are. Yeah. Didn't you know? You are amazing, sir! And you too, lady! Go for it!

Embrace this opportunity as a chance to do some major modifications in your life. And while you're at it, why don't you go and try a different haircut? Just sayin'...

See you later, alligator! And bring me some good news!

Sunday, 8 December 2013

Welcome!

Good morning! Or good afternoon! Have a lovely evening! This is my first post here and I'm really excited! You know, I've been writing in other blogs but they always end up kind off dead...

(Also, this is the first time I'm writing a blog in English, which is not my first language.)

I think this is the one. The chosen one. The survivor. And what is the purpose of this blog, anyway? (This is what you're asking right there...sittin' at your desk, chillin' in your computer, asking yourself "why the f... am I wasting my time in this page?".)

Well, I will tell you why. Right now.

Because, here, the keyword is "HAPPY". Because you SHOULD and you CAN be happy. It is up to you. And let me ask you: don't you absolutely hate when people say this? "Oh, I choose to be happy every single day". Yeah...right! Right??

We both know it's not that easy. We both know that, sometimes, life give us a hard time and smiling becomes one hard task to do. But, let's be honest with ourselves. Sometimes (most part of them) we are responsible for our own misery. And that's why I am here today. To remind you (and myself...cough, cough) that it's not that bad, that it's NOT the end of the world and that you DESERVE to be happy, just like everybody else.

I'm not a psychologist, nor some kind of guru of happiness. I've actually always been a really negative person. There were times when I didn't have any sort of self-confidence. I didn't like to look at the mirror and, basically, everybody was better than me - in my really stupid and blind mind. And yeah, I smiled all the way, but I was a sad child and, later, a sad teenager.

Now...I will not lie, I still have my issues goin' on (who hasn't?) but I face life with another attitude nowadays. I'm not as dramatic as I once was and I really like the person I've become.

But I'm losing my point here.

The main goal here is not to create a false smile in your face. Is to make you understand that you have a beautiful REAL smile there, hiding somewhere deep inside of you. And you know what? You're the only one keep in it locked away.

We will spread positive thoughts and energies through this "world wide web", which, in my opinion, is full of negative stuff. I can't go to any website without seeing a bunch of negative comments, hating behaviors and people who are really angry with life (and with other people).

You know what? I am too! There are times when I want to punch everyone right in the face. But I discovered, a while ago, that these kinds of thoughts and feelings only arm ourselves and the ones we love.

So, let's try to see things in a different perspective, shall we? Let's try to, simply, enjoy life. Sometimes it's not easy. But it's doable. One day at a time? Nah, that's too boring and limited. One week at a time, maybe! Or, even better, one thought at a time.

Like...right now, for instances. You know that little thing that is keepin' you off of sleep or relaxing? In a few weeks, maybe a couple of months, you will discover that that too had a solution, that, maybe, it was not even a real problem and lived only in your mind. You will find out that the person keepin' your thoughts full of drama is not even part of your life anymore. Like that one thing that was bothering you last year...remember? No?

Right...see what I mean?

Anyway, thank you for staying this far! I will try to do smaller publications in the future, I promise. This was the first. It's special. Hope to see you around here more often!

See you later, alligator!

Coming soon!
