Here I am

Hey! So, I know I haven't been around for a while but, honestly, I haven't been in the mood to spread positive energies. I'm home again so I might be posting more frequently, now.

I have to confess I've been finding it hard to maintain this blog, because I lack motivation. I mean, I don't usually get any comments or feedback so it's hard to keep going, when I have no idea if anyone is reading, at all. Anyway, it's not your fault, I too read a lot of content online and watch YouTubers and all and I barely comment on anything, so, it's ok, we're ok (virtual hug).

Anyway, I wanted to tell you some news about my life. Today is my first day unemployed - yes, again. I plan to join the Amnesty International here, in my country, in February. They have this Face to Face project that will be on until June, so...there's that.

I also cut my hair short. Like you saw in this entry, I have been a little bit lost in what comes to my hair so I've decided to let it go (let it goooooo). My curls are definitely back and I'm loving this feeling of freedom - and I kind of feel a little bit more rebel with my hair short. My boyfriend was shocked, though.

Also, I'm thinking about getting my nose pierced, what do you think about that? Do you have any piercings? Comment below and let me know - really, do comment, don't be shy or it's like I'm talking to myself.

My puppy is really big, he's 7 months now. I think that's about it.

I hope you're still around. See you later, alligator!

Sorry, I'm late

I shall begin this entry by saying "I'm sorry". Yup. I haven't been much of a blogger lately. Oh, the shame! It's been almost a month since my last post but, hey, I'm back!

As you may know from previous publications, I'm currently unemployed and...yeah, just as expected: it sucks. Really, it's annoying. Today, for instances, I received an e-mail, a response from one of the companies to which I sent my resume. My heart jumped, I opened an e-mail and...another "unfortunately we are not hiring new collaborators at the moment". It's kinda depressing. I've already received four responses like that...five? Whatever. One of them came with a bonus. It said something like "don't give up your dream" at the end. Really? Well...you are definitely NOT helping, you know that?

So, yeah. This is a positive blog. A happy blog. But we can't always be happy. That would only happen if we had some serious emotional problems. Bu we can't give up. Ever. Giving up would be taking the easy and useless path.

I could just end this blog like I did to many others. I could spend my days laying around, not looking for a job, like I see most of my unemployed family members do. I could just give up. You could also give up. But we don't do that! Not in a million years! Not after a million negative responses - and I really hope it won't come to that! We keep fighting and we will succeed. Or we'll die trying (that would be kinda dramatic...).

On another topic, yesterday I saw a really (apparently) cheesy movie that ended up being really cute and kinda lovely. Me and my brother saw "About Time", from Richard Curtis, starring Rachel McAdams and Domhnall (how the Hell do you spell that???) Gleeson. I gave it a 7 on IMDB. It was cute and different from the usual romantic crap, which is always nice.

And I just began watching "Shameless". What do you think? I'm just heading to the second episode so...I really can't give an opinion just yet. But it's with that girl from "The Phantom of the Opera"! And yeah, I know everyone is going nuts with "Game of Thrones" but I'm reading the books and I really don't want to imagine the actors while I'm reading (I'm sort of a book nerd and I really like to picture everything in my mind, without exterior influences) so I'll watch the show after reading all the books. Considering that the chronicles are yet to be finished...that will be in ten years from now...maybe. I don't know.

So, good night everybody! I promise I'll be a much more present blogger!

See you later, alligator!

It's Friday night!

Aaaaand...it's Friday
Trust me! I'm telling the truth! You made it through this week and now you are going to have the weekend you deserve!

I know, you're exhausted, right? With work, meetings, Christmas, family reunions and so ever.

Now wait a minute. Sit down. Are you sitting? Of course you are, you're on the computer. Now, take a deep breath...

A deep one. Inhale, exhale...deeeeeeply.

Now RAISE YOUR ARMS and yell: WOOOHHOOOO! (ok, maybe I went to far with that one. I don't have that much of a power over you, do I? No, really...do I? Did you yell? You're a strange fellow...I like you.)

Anyway, I can't think of a better feeling (lying... cough cough you pervert (!), what did you think I was insinuating (?) cough cough I'm thinking about eating pizza, of course cough cough) than the one we get at a Friday night when we know we can sleep all morning the next day. We don't have to, maybe we won't, but we CAN! Hell yeah! And today you can give yourself an extra night time. You've earned it.

You can watch a movie. You can play Sims 2 (I'm not the only one who still does it, am I?) until you're bored - 30 minutes or so -, or you can go out with your friends, your dog, your boyfriend, I don't really care....anyone who makes you happy. Enjoy your Friday night - what time is it there, by the way? -.

As a soon-to-be-official-unemployed-citizen (this sounds weird), I've been really confused about...anything "calender related", actually, so, Friday, Tuesday, Sunday...it's all the same for me. But, you know, I'm happy for you.

Keep in touch! And take the time to follow me on Twitter and like this blog of ours on Facebook! Thank you!

See you later, alligator!

Get up

Good afternoon!

This blog is about being happy. It's about overcoming our problems. And you might think "Yeah, like she is going through any problems in her life...bullshit". Well, first, watch the language and second, you're right in one thing: I don't consider it a problem, I see it as a challenge

For the first time in my life, I'm unemployed. And you know what? I'm not gonna flower it up. It's not easy. When we are fired our confidence is shredded into small pieces. I didn't do anything wrong, I was just a victim of the "conjuncture", according to my boss. The crisis, the lack of money, the fact that my job is no longer needed 'cause the "department" (let's put it this way) where I worked was shut down.

But, even in this particular situation, we always end up thinking that we could have done more, that we could have done something to just stand out in the crowd, you know? So that we wouldn't represent the group of people who ended up getting fired - yes, a lot of people got fired, this is the reality that we are living nowadays. Well, maybe we could. Maybe if we did this or that...but you know what? We'll never know. And the one thing we do know is that we have to get up.

That's right. Get up! This post is for you who are in the same situation I am today. You got fired. You are sad. You feel like the world as something against you. But, guess what? The world has absolutely nothing against you. If you look around, there are thousands of people in the same place as you. And it's just normal, you know? If you think about it, this is how we build a career, a resume, with different experiences, different positions in different companies.

I read this thing in a magazine last week and it made so much sense to me. It said something like this: now that you are unemployed, your job is to look for a job!

This is the attitude that you should have. You WILL get a job eventually. Maybe you'll even like your new job. Maybe, just maybe, you'll love it even more than you loved the last one. If your last job was your first, just think about it: your first job will probably be the worst you will ever have. Someone told me this the other day and I thought "hum...but...well...yeah...you might be right".

So...did you get the point? Get up! No one will find you a job for you. You are the one who has to do it. It's in your hands.

First step? Update your curriculum vitae, your resume, whatever you wanna call it. Do a search in the web, if you don't know how to do it. You have some amazing tools and some advises on this subject. Go for it. Register yourself in linkedin, do some research on your professional area and show the world how amazing you really are. Yeah. Didn't you know? You are amazing, sir! And you too, lady! Go for it!

Embrace this opportunity as a chance to do some major modifications in your life. And while you're at it, why don't you go and try a different haircut? Just sayin'...

See you later, alligator! And bring me some good news!
