The perks of rainy days

Well, hello you!

Let's talk about weather, shall we? I don't know about you but I've been experiencing some rainy days and, you know what? I LOVE it. Don't you? Well, let's think about it for a couple of minutes.

The perks of rainy days:
  1. Falling asleep listening to the rain outside;
  2. Staying home, watching movies or your favorite TV shows, not having to feel guilty about being in your pajamas all day - and, yes, I'm assuming you're in your day off, obviously;
  3. Drinking hot tea;
  4. Drinking hot chocolate;
  5. Cuddling on the sofa;
  6. The sound of rain is actually quite relaxing;
  7. Thunder - it is awesome;
  8. The smell of the wet soil;
  9. Walking on puddles;
  10. Umbrellas.
And, well, try to forget the annoying part of it and look around you! Water falling from the sky??? Come on! It's beautiful.

I'm serious, we need to start appreciating the amazing things we have in this planet of ours. It IS fascinating.

So, next time you hear the weather man talking about "cloudy with a chance of rain", give yourself a second to see the perks of it and start enjoying your day.

See you later, alligator!

(Also, I took that picture.)

25 stupid things people say

Hello, you! And, first of all, let me tell you, you look specially stunning today, you good looking person! You hot, you!
I'm going to look the other way now, you're distracting me. And let's get to the business, shall we?

One fact: we all know at least 50 people. Another fact: we all dislike - or maybe we just fail to understand - close to 60% of them. And don't tell me it's just me or I will run away and cry myself to sleep thinking about how much of a bad, bad, bad person I am.

Among those 60% there are these few specimens who have a way of making us feel like we don't want to live on this planet anymore. And why? Because they say stupid things. Also, they make us want to laugh at them (note that I didn't write WITH them...) and that's why they get to have this little special mention in our blog.

Let's go!
Stupid things stupid people say (or ask):
  1. You look different. You're pretty. | Well, thank you! I guess...
  2. Why are you so serious? Smile. Smile! SMILE HARDER! Well, can't you just pretend you're ok?
  3. You look fat(ter). | Well, f. you too ^^
  4. So...how are you? Any girlfriends/boyfriends (yes, they usually use the plural on this one) in your life?
  5. So...when are you two getting married?
  6. Congratulations on your wedding!!! So...when are you two having a baby??
  7. Congratulations on your baby!!! Any thoughts on having a second child??
  8. I'm saying this with all due respect: your mother is a b*tch. I don't like her, she does this and that and also that, but, you know, it's your mother and I try to understand her and respect her. | Really? Really???
  9. I love my kids but sometimes I wish they hadn't been born. | Oh...o...kay?
  10. ...and, you know, the Big Bang killed the dinosaurs.
  11. And these girls who bleed the first time they have sex...pathetic. | Really? What the...? What?? Are you mentally ill or something??
  12. I'm afraid I'm sterile so I'm taking a break in my birth control pill to see if I'm able to get pregnant. (stated by a sexually active 14 year old girl)
  13. Black cats are bad luck. | Go f. yourself.
  14. Can you give me the code? Again? I've already gave it to you, like, 5 times. Didn't you write it down and memorized it already? No, I don't like to memorize irrelevant things like numbers. It's bad for your brain, you know? Actually, studies have shown that doing so helps prevent Alzheimer's... Yeah, well...I don't do that.
  15. Animals are human beings too!!!
  16. Put my seatbelt? What for? | Well...duh!
  17. So...and how long are you together? Oh, that many years? Trust me, that won't last much longer. That's just life.
  18. Your dog is misbehaving? He peed? Why don't you hit it?
  19. I don't take my cats to the vet for vaccines. It's pointless. I love them, 'though.
  20. Don't you think you might be a lesbian? You know, 'cause your boyfriend doesn't have lots of muscles. I like my men big and strong. | Well, good for you. Bye, bye now. Also, you're a d.bag and your brain must be very small...oh, and your men's brains too.
  21. Animals don't feel. - not to be confused with "animals don't have feelings". The statement was that they don't feel, AT ALL.
  22. My generation is so much better than this one. I don't know...we were just...better. Not like them. They're stupid. - As said by every single person of every single generation of every single decade. Wake up. We're all f*cked up, deal with it.
  23. A real woman has long hair. | Shut up. Please. You're hurting my...every single part of my body. - I actually have long hair but this kind of statement just annoys me.
  24. Real men don't cry.
  25. YOLO. | Enough, already.
If you have ever said any of the above, please, don't ever do it again. I still love you but...please stop. You're hurting me.

I admit I may have used statement number 1, but I swear it wasn't supposed do sound like that!

Do you have any other examples? Comment below and let me know, I can't wait to hear it!

Also, if you like, please share it! The more, the merrier! You can follow me on Twitter and like me on Facebook to be the first to know when a new fresh post is baked!
Thank you for reading and I'll see you later, alligator! ;)

Summer is great! Oh...wait...

I'm a bit late but still in time to give a proper welcome to our beloved season: summer!

WELCOME! We missed you!

Actually, in my country, we're still missing you because you've being kind off shy, but that's OK. We'll wait.

And this is, in fact, a beautiful season. We have beaches, sun glasses, skirts, beautiful days with bright blue sky, lots and lots of skin showing...and this is where summer shows its dark side. It's just that...I really do NOT want to see some parts of some people's skin. Really. Sometimes it just hurts my eyes. Ok, I can go and show some legs but do I really need to show off my butt? Do I??? No. I don't think so.

Another thing: the smell! Oh Lord, the SMELL. And if you usually use the bus or the subway, you know what I'm talking about: some people just don't bath! I don't know why and I really don't care. Just...do it! Go on and take a bath! Not a small one, you need a real bath and also some deodorant, please! I don't deserve this. I don't think I did any harm to anyone to deserve something like your hideous smell!

Summer also brings lots of bites from all kind of flying insects. You can try all you want to keep your windows closed: they will get into your house anyway! And then you'll be awake all night long trying to kill those mother efer's. And maybe you'll succeed...maybe not. It's an all-time mystery.

Another thing about summer? I don't know about you but I become a lot more self-conscious. I mean, we're almost naked when we're at the beach so I end up thinking "Why didn't I make exercise during winter, why didn't I diet? I'm a fat bastard!". Eventually I just forget about that and go and have fun at the beach.

This year is different, though. I made a commitment with myself to be healthier. So, I've been eating more salads, more fruit and vegetables and I've been trying to run at least 2 days a week. The goal is to go 3 times a week but it has been raining so...no can do. I really can't tell any difference but it has only been 2 weeks since I made this decision so...I'll try to be patient and wait for my bikini body...I mean...to be a better and healthier person (cough, cough, I just really wanna be hot, cough cough).

What about you? What do you love about summer and, since we're being honest here, what do you really hate about this season? Comment below ;)

Now, have yourself some good vibrations!

See you later, alligator!

What I've been up to

Hello everyone!

You know how I previously wrote about doing something new? Well...you might think I'm just talking and no action. And well...you might be terribly wrong too.

I say and, yes, I do! This blog is an honest place.

So, today I felt the urge to tell you what happened to me in these last few days.

My birthday was this Monday, May 5th (yei, happy birthday, thank you) and, well, I always get a little bit too emotional when my birthday is approaching. So, what did this brain of mine thought I could do?

Yes! Dye my hair! Why not?

My hair is brown and it was a virgin hair, never dyed before. Screw it, it's like the youngsters say nowadays: YOLO - and yes, I truly hate this trend, what the Hell is wrong with you people???

I went ahead and paint my hair...blue. Yes, blue. Not dark blue, not light blue, real BLUE.

Although I loved the result, it didn't last long. I went to the beauty salon this Saturday and as I write this entry, I no longer have my hair in Sailor Mercury mode - my nails are still painted blue, though.

What happened? I washed it yesterday and my hair turned green, kind of...green, lilac, grey, light blue...I don't know. It was really ugly and my hair became really sere.

So, today I lost my mind, did some search online, went to the store and dyed my own hair. I also cut it. Against all odds, it went really well. I just have to buy a second kit 'cause there's still some blue hiding around here. But I may have skipped a brilliant career as a hairdresser!!!

So, my advice to you? I don't have any idea. Yeah, of course I ruined my hair, of course I eventually became really annoyed with all the stares I got and, yes, my money burned for nothing and my fabulous blue hair only lasted three days. But you know what? I'm not sorry, not even a bit 'cause it was really cool while it lasted! Just like a really messed up relationship or a meal that you know will put you in the bathroom for hours. But in that moment...you just really want to be blue!

So, who am I to give you an advice? I can only say, do something different, but think about it for a while, measure the consequences...especially if you're thinking about getting a tattoo! There's no ink in the world capable of erasing that. Yeah, I know there's laser but that is expensive, it really hurts and it might not even do the job.

See you later, alligator!

The 14th!

IT has arrived! What? What in the world am I talking about (you ask)???

Well. You might as well wake up and look at your calendar (or this entry's title). It's February 14th a.k.a. the most hated day of the year, for some, and a beautiful day, for others.

I felt the urge to post today. Why (you ask)? Because I know you're probably on the "haters' side" of this text. I know the feel' bro'. Been there, done that. A long time ago, when I was a (un)happy single girl I used to have this sentence I ALWAYS said in this particular day: another Saint Valentine's day without a boyfriend. And you know what? I was stupid. Therefore, YOU are stupid. I'm sorry to put it like this. But it's the truth. For the love of God or Gandalf or Dumbledore or whoever the heck you want!!! Newsflash: you don't need a boyfriend/girlfriend! I didn't need one back then and I don't need one now. I mean, I love my boyfriend and I need him beside me because I love him BUT the idea of having someone beside me, romantically speaking? Having A boyfriend/girlfriend just because? I'm sorry. That's stupid. And I'll take that back: I'm not sorry.

This day is about celebrating love! Friendship, why not? Family. Your pet (whom I know you love, don't give me that "oh no, I'm so insensitive and I don't have feelings..." crap)!
Most importantly, this day is about you! Like every other day, it's about you doing what you LOVE the most. And sitting around feeling sorry for yourself is not an option.

You know what? Enjoy your single years! I'm glad I've learned how to appreciate that before it was too late. Every single stage of your life has its enchantments. What I'm trying to say is: yes, I love my man and I want him beside me but that's just because I know him! Because he's a part of my life, not because he's THE boyfriend. That, my dear friend, doesn't mean squad. You will not be happier just for having someone to put that label on. No. You will be happy, yes, when you start appreciating your life. Those little pieces that form your history, single parts included.

So today, appreciate the fact that you don't have a commitment. Go out with your other single friends, go to the movies, stay home, play with your cat (or dog, I don't care), do a good deed and babysit your nephew so that your sister can have a rare alone time with her husband. Spread love and joy. And, please, DO NOT feel sorry for yourself! That's just idiotic. And don't give the "that's easy for you to say, you have a boyfriend" crap, 'cause I've been where you are, forever alone and heart broken and all that boohoo stuff and, trust me, it's not that bad. We just tend to make up problems in our minds and we can actually be real drama queens. It's your loss. You're wasting your "alone" years.

Now, that's sad

Anyway, with or without someone, whether you like this day or it's completely indifferent to you, enjoy it. It's another day in your life. It's the (and a) present and you deserve to live it fully.

So...be happy! I'll see you later. I hope you're not mad at me, I wish someone had told me this stuff a few years ago.

See you later, alligator!

P.S.: Aaaand today is Friday! Hurray!

The list

Hello!!!
Are you excited!?!? Yeah, well, you should be! Tomorrow is Saturday and, YES, you will have a great day. Speaking of which, I bought a t-shirt yesterday (sales rules) that says: "Let's have a great day", and has some birds on it and flowers and stuff. I hope I'll have some awesome days this Summer so that I can properly enjoy the t-shirt. I can't always wear black. Well, I actually can, but I like to wear other colors once in a while. Specially, during the sunny season of the year.

In fact, maybe it's already Saturday there! Well, do me a favor and enjoy it! Ok? Ok.

So, today I am gonna make a list of the things that make me happy. Why? I know you don't care ^^ don't worry, but MAYBE some of the things that make ME smile, are also capable of making your day. It's quite possible, right?

Sorry, I'm late

I shall begin this entry by saying "I'm sorry". Yup. I haven't been much of a blogger lately. Oh, the shame! It's been almost a month since my last post but, hey, I'm back!

As you may know from previous publications, I'm currently unemployed and...yeah, just as expected: it sucks. Really, it's annoying. Today, for instances, I received an e-mail, a response from one of the companies to which I sent my resume. My heart jumped, I opened an e-mail and...another "unfortunately we are not hiring new collaborators at the moment". It's kinda depressing. I've already received four responses like that...five? Whatever. One of them came with a bonus. It said something like "don't give up your dream" at the end. Really? Well...you are definitely NOT helping, you know that?

So, yeah. This is a positive blog. A happy blog. But we can't always be happy. That would only happen if we had some serious emotional problems. Bu we can't give up. Ever. Giving up would be taking the easy and useless path.

I could just end this blog like I did to many others. I could spend my days laying around, not looking for a job, like I see most of my unemployed family members do. I could just give up. You could also give up. But we don't do that! Not in a million years! Not after a million negative responses - and I really hope it won't come to that! We keep fighting and we will succeed. Or we'll die trying (that would be kinda dramatic...).

On another topic, yesterday I saw a really (apparently) cheesy movie that ended up being really cute and kinda lovely. Me and my brother saw "About Time", from Richard Curtis, starring Rachel McAdams and Domhnall (how the Hell do you spell that???) Gleeson. I gave it a 7 on IMDB. It was cute and different from the usual romantic crap, which is always nice.

And I just began watching "Shameless". What do you think? I'm just heading to the second episode so...I really can't give an opinion just yet. But it's with that girl from "The Phantom of the Opera"! And yeah, I know everyone is going nuts with "Game of Thrones" but I'm reading the books and I really don't want to imagine the actors while I'm reading (I'm sort of a book nerd and I really like to picture everything in my mind, without exterior influences) so I'll watch the show after reading all the books. Considering that the chronicles are yet to be finished...that will be in ten years from now...maybe. I don't know.

So, good night everybody! I promise I'll be a much more present blogger!

See you later, alligator!

It's Friday night!

Aaaaand...it's Friday
Trust me! I'm telling the truth! You made it through this week and now you are going to have the weekend you deserve!

I know, you're exhausted, right? With work, meetings, Christmas, family reunions and so ever.

Now wait a minute. Sit down. Are you sitting? Of course you are, you're on the computer. Now, take a deep breath...

A deep one. Inhale, exhale...deeeeeeply.

Now RAISE YOUR ARMS and yell: WOOOHHOOOO! (ok, maybe I went to far with that one. I don't have that much of a power over you, do I? No, really...do I? Did you yell? You're a strange fellow...I like you.)

Anyway, I can't think of a better feeling (lying... cough cough you pervert (!), what did you think I was insinuating (?) cough cough I'm thinking about eating pizza, of course cough cough) than the one we get at a Friday night when we know we can sleep all morning the next day. We don't have to, maybe we won't, but we CAN! Hell yeah! And today you can give yourself an extra night time. You've earned it.

You can watch a movie. You can play Sims 2 (I'm not the only one who still does it, am I?) until you're bored - 30 minutes or so -, or you can go out with your friends, your dog, your boyfriend, I don't really care....anyone who makes you happy. Enjoy your Friday night - what time is it there, by the way? -.

As a soon-to-be-official-unemployed-citizen (this sounds weird), I've been really confused about...anything "calender related", actually, so, Friday, Tuesday, Sunday...it's all the same for me. But, you know, I'm happy for you.

Keep in touch! And take the time to follow me on Twitter and like this blog of ours on Facebook! Thank you!

Stop whining

Christmas: check.
Next: New Year's Eve.

It's a party season, alright! Are you enjoying it?
I know it's not easy to have your family reunited for the holidays. It can be really annoying! And, yes, I do know it's not easy to have a small Christmas with only a couple of people, specially if you used to have your house full of relatives by this time of the year. Been there, done that.

But, you know what? We have to be grateful for the few people we have around us. For the pleasure of our own company, even. And we should enjoy every minute of this season. (And by "we", I mean "we, the ones who like/celebrate/live Christmas". Not everyone likes it and for many people Xmas doesn't mean anything. And that's cool. I don't care. And I bet that my idea of Xmas is completely different from yours. And, again, I don't care. The important thing is for us to be happy with our own choices.)

So, you miss those days when you used to have 15 people at the table on Christmas Eve. You got divorced and now there's only three or so. You know what I say to you? Be grateful!

And you? You are so bored with your aunt's stories and your grandfather's snoring is driving you crazy. That guy I mentioned above would kill to have what you have. Be grateful!

Stop whining and go eat some cake. Ok?

The same applies to New Year's Eve. Whether you're spending it at some crazy party or at home in your pajama, watching your favorite series, be grateful! You made it through another year! And your life is not defined by the way you spend one night, ok? Do what you like to do, without worrying to much about what everyone thinks or how they'll be spending their night. And do yourself a favor: stop stalking everyone's life on Facebook. That's not good for you.

Anyway, I hope you're having an amazing time! And if you can relate with some examples I gave here, don't worry, you're still perfectly in time of enjoying this season ok?

I'm gonna go to sleep now. And yeah, I'm really grateful for that warm bed of mine.

See you later, alligator!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Sunday laziness

Let me guess. You are having a pretty boring weekend, right? There's absolutely nothing worth watching on TV and you find yourself just vegetating (is that a word?) in front of your computer.

Well, you're lucky enough to be in that situation. It means you have nothing to do.

No? Oh, so you have that tiny thing to do since last month? There's that friend of yours to whom you don't speak in ages? You've been too busy to  even walk your dog?

Well...guess again. This is the perfect time to do all that stuff. You're not even enjoying your spare time. You are bored to death in that computer of yours. Reading this blog is acceptable, of course (!) but as soon as you're finished with it get up and get a life, ok? I mean, if you ARE bored and all.

It's actually really easy, you just need to get up and start doing things. Like, go and take a bath, call your friend and go grab a cup of coffee or whatever you like. A cappuccino is cool too. Call your dog (in this case, just yell or go to him...I mean, I believe he's a smart ass but I don't thing he'll answer the phone) and go do some exercise at the park near your house. You know? ENJOY your weekend! And tonight you won't be struggling with insomnia, I assure you that much!

It's raining outside? It's freezing cold? Well...what about getting friendly with your oven? Yeah! Bake a cake! It rhymes so it has to be a good idea (or not; it depends on how old you are and what experience you have cooking...please, be careful O.O)!

The thing is: if you are bored, don't be bored! If you are enjoying you're "vegetable" mode, well, embrace it!  It's good to just do nothing once in a while.

Anyway, I hope you liked this post. More coming soon ;) have an awesome weekend!

See you later, alligator!

Take a minute

Hello! Good night, or good morning, good afternoon, maybe. The keyword here is "good"!

So, a little bird told me that you are having a crappy day. It happens to the best of us, right? But what if you contradict this day?

Yup. Take a minute, grab a piece of paper and write all the GOOD things that happened today.

Like, for instances, today, for the first time, I gave my cat a bath and, believe it or not, he loved it. It was really easy, I was shocked!

So, this is a good thing that happened to me today. Another one?  Today I had pasta with meatballs for dinner.

Can you do this? Think of one thing that made you smile today. A 9gag post, your mom's laughter, a hot chocolate or even the fact that it didn't rain today. Anything! Even the fact that your butt looked really nice in your favorite jeans today - what?? Why are you so shocked? There's not a single woman in this world that doesn't check her butt in the mirror before goin' out.

The important thing here is for you to see your day in a different perspective. And you know what? In a few hours you will be sleeping, all cozy and warm in your bed. That's also a good thing!

As for me, in a while I will be drinking a hot cup of tea and it's gonna be awesome. It's freezing out here!

See you later, alligator!

Get up

Good afternoon!

This blog is about being happy. It's about overcoming our problems. And you might think "Yeah, like she is going through any problems in her life...bullshit". Well, first, watch the language and second, you're right in one thing: I don't consider it a problem, I see it as a challenge

For the first time in my life, I'm unemployed. And you know what? I'm not gonna flower it up. It's not easy. When we are fired our confidence is shredded into small pieces. I didn't do anything wrong, I was just a victim of the "conjuncture", according to my boss. The crisis, the lack of money, the fact that my job is no longer needed 'cause the "department" (let's put it this way) where I worked was shut down.

But, even in this particular situation, we always end up thinking that we could have done more, that we could have done something to just stand out in the crowd, you know? So that we wouldn't represent the group of people who ended up getting fired - yes, a lot of people got fired, this is the reality that we are living nowadays. Well, maybe we could. Maybe if we did this or that...but you know what? We'll never know. And the one thing we do know is that we have to get up.

That's right. Get up! This post is for you who are in the same situation I am today. You got fired. You are sad. You feel like the world as something against you. But, guess what? The world has absolutely nothing against you. If you look around, there are thousands of people in the same place as you. And it's just normal, you know? If you think about it, this is how we build a career, a resume, with different experiences, different positions in different companies.

I read this thing in a magazine last week and it made so much sense to me. It said something like this: now that you are unemployed, your job is to look for a job!

This is the attitude that you should have. You WILL get a job eventually. Maybe you'll even like your new job. Maybe, just maybe, you'll love it even more than you loved the last one. If your last job was your first, just think about it: your first job will probably be the worst you will ever have. Someone told me this the other day and I thought "hum...but...well...yeah...you might be right".

So...did you get the point? Get up! No one will find you a job for you. You are the one who has to do it. It's in your hands.

Welcome!

Good morning! Or good afternoon! Have a lovely evening! This is my first post here and I'm really excited! You know, I've been writing in other blogs but they always end up kind off dead...

(Also, this is the first time I'm writing a blog in English, which is not my first language.)

I think this is the one. The chosen one. The survivor. And what is the purpose of this blog, anyway? (This is what you're asking right there...sittin' at your desk, chillin' in your computer, asking yourself "why the f... am I wasting my time in this page?".)

Well, I will tell you why. Right now.

Because, here, the keyword is "HAPPY". Because you SHOULD and you CAN be happy. It is up to you. And let me ask you: don't you absolutely hate when people say this? "Oh, I choose to be happy every single day". Yeah...right! Right??

We both know it's not that easy. We both know that, sometimes, life give us a hard time and smiling becomes one hard task to do. But, let's be honest with ourselves. Sometimes (most part of them) we are responsible for our own misery. And that's why I am here today. To remind you (and myself...cough, cough) that it's not that bad, that it's NOT the end of the world and that you DESERVE to be happy, just like everybody else.

I'm not a psychologist, nor some kind of guru of happiness. I've actually always been a really negative person. There were times when I didn't have any sort of self-confidence. I didn't like to look at the mirror and, basically, everybody was better than me - in my really stupid and blind mind. And yeah, I smiled all the way, but I was a sad child and, later, a sad teenager.

Now...I will not lie, I still have my issues goin' on (who hasn't?) but I face life with another attitude nowadays. I'm not as dramatic as I once was and I really like the person I've become.

But I'm losing my point here.

The main goal here is not to create a false smile in your face. Is to make you understand that you have a beautiful REAL smile there, hiding somewhere deep inside of you. And you know what? You're the only one keep in it locked away.

We will spread positive thoughts and energies through this "world wide web", which, in my opinion, is full of negative stuff. I can't go to any website without seeing a bunch of negative comments, hating behaviors and people who are really angry with life (and with other people).

You know what? I am too! There are times when I want to punch everyone right in the face. But I discovered, a while ago, that these kinds of thoughts and feelings only arm ourselves and the ones we love.

So, let's try to see things in a different perspective, shall we? Let's try to, simply, enjoy life. Sometimes it's not easy. But it's doable. One day at a time? Nah, that's too boring and limited. One week at a time, maybe! Or, even better, one thought at a time.

Like...right now, for instances. You know that little thing that is keepin' you off of sleep or relaxing? In a few weeks, maybe a couple of months, you will discover that that too had a solution, that, maybe, it was not even a real problem and lived only in your mind. You will find out that the person keepin' your thoughts full of drama is not even part of your life anymore. Like that one thing that was bothering you last year...remember? No?

Right...see what I mean?

Anyway, thank you for staying this far! I will try to do smaller publications in the future, I promise. This was the first. It's special. Hope to see you around here more often!

See you later, alligator!
